Description

Sika Primer-209 N 250ml, Pre-treatment agent for plastics and painted surfaces

Product Overview

Sika Primer-209 N is a black pigmented low-viscosity liquid that dries by reaction with atmospheric moisture. It is used to prime painted surfaces and plastic substrates prior to bonding with Sikaflex products.
Sika Primer-209 N is suitable for application to the following substrates: Plastics (Acrylic, PMMA, Polycarbonate, ABS, etc.), and Paints (Acrylics Alkyds/Melamin). Sika Primer-209 N 250ml is manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 / 14001 quality assurance system and the responsible care program.

Method Of Application

Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil and dust. Adhesion on substrates may be improved by adding and/or combining pre-treatment processes such as scuffing, cleaning and activating.

Application

Shake Sika Primer-209 N very thoroughly until mixing ball rattles freely and apply a thin but covering coat with a brush or felt pad. Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C or above 35°C.

Sika Primer-209 N has to be applied once only. Care must be taken to ensure that this single application gives adequately dense coverage.

Tightly re-seal container immediately after each use.

Areas Of Application

Sika® Primer-209 N is suitable for application to the following substrates:

  • Plastics Acrylic (PMMA) Polycarbonate ABS, etc.
  • Paints Acrylics Alkyds/melamine

Because paints and plastics vary so much in their chemical composition, preliminary trials are necessary. Always seek manufacturer’s advice before using primer on plastics that are prone to stress cracking, such as acrylics, polycarbonates or ABS. This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests with actual substrates and conditions, especially boundary temperature conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and
material compatibility.
