Cooper Bearings, Cartridges and Pedestals
Cooper Bearings are similar to self lube bearings, but you do not need to disassemble your machine to install or service them. Instead, Cooper components are split into two halves, which are then formed around the shaft and built up one piece at a time. The advantage of such a system is that they can be installed, removed, serviced, partially or completely replaced without having to spend time dismantling your machine first. This design also allows for any misalignment to be taken up at the assembly stage.
Cooper bearings are divided into three sections: Bearings, Cartridges and Pedestals. The bearing is the rotating mechanical part, consisting of a roller cage with inner and outer races. The cartridge is the protective shroud around the bearing which contains the grease and seals. It also aids in mounting the bearing to the main housing. The Pedestal is the hollow block which is bolted to your machine. This keeps the cartridge and bearing at the correct position for the shaft to rotate.
Difference between OPTIMA Batteries RedTop, YellowTop, and BlueTop OPTIMA RedTop
For normal engine starting where an alternator immediately monitors the state of charge and provides energy to the battery whenever it is needed.
This would describe most stock vehicles, including: automotive and RV underhood starting, heavy equipment where starting is the primary function, and diesel vehicles without aftermarket electronics.
Use this when electrical loads are higher than average, or when the discharge cycle is more than typical engine starting, such as vehicles with multiple electronic accessories and vehicles without alternators. This can also include vehicles with a lot of factory electronics such as power sliding doors and a DVD player. Examples also include: racing vehicles without a charging system, dedicated drag racers, diesel powered vehicles with aftermarket electronics, and vehicles with inverters, winches, or other accessories.
The BlueTop starting battery (dark gray case) is to be used when a dedicated starting battery is required and it should never be used for cycling duty. Use a BlueTop starting battery for marine applications and RVs when the battery's only function is engine starting.
The dual purpose BlueTop (light gray case) can be used for both starting and deep cycling -- it is a true deep cycle battery with extremely high cranking power. Uses include: trolling motors, marine applications with heavy electrical accessories, and RVs.
WEST SYSTEM Epoxies have been used successfully in boat construction and repair since 1969. Developed specifically for boat building, boat repairs and the marine industry, and internationally marketed for 50 years, WEST SYSTEM epoxy is a versatile, high-quality, system that is easily modified for a wide range of coating and adhesive applications. These epoxies set the standard for epoxy quality in the marine industry and beyond.
Epoxy brands vary widely in their formulations, quality of raw materials, and suitability for marine environments. It’s easy to market an off-the-shelf industrial epoxy as a marine epoxy or formulate an epoxy with one or two favorable characteristics while sacrificing overall performance. It’s much more difficult balancing all of the physical and mechanical properties necessary for a versatile, high-quality marine grade epoxy.
